About Us

The Tauhinu Sea Scout group commenced activities on August 1955 , registered with Scouts New Zealand March 3rd, 1958 and is part of the Mahurangi Zone.  The group runs four sections – Keas for children in school years 1-3, Cubs for children in school years 3-6, Scouts for children in school years 7-10 and Venturers for young adults in school years 11-14.

We run various outdoor activities based on the Scouting New Zealand national programs. Our younger Keas have a fun programme of discovery and Cubs participate in outdoor adventures, camps and community activities. Our Scouts and Venturers have a strong focus on water activities and are further challenged by a programme of achievement, leadership and service. This can involve attending adventure camps, jamborees and a national schools, plus with the group being an approved Award Unit, they are also able to obtain The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Awards along side the Scout Award Scheme.

Tauhinu Sea Scout group has always had, and continues to have, a long term commitment to the youth of the Greenhithe Community.  By guiding and teaching them scouting and boating skills we believe this equips them to become worthwhile and valuable members of our community.
