Scout Personal First Aid Kit
Assembling a personal first aid kit is a fundamental part of earning the Scout ‘Green Badge’ strip. This essential kit will accompany our Scouts on all camps, hikes, water expeditions, and outings to ensure they are always prepared.
📦 Step 1: Prepare Your Container
Each Scout will be supplied with a **mini tuffbox**, though they are welcome to find and use another suitable, durable small container from home.
The very first task is to print out the contents checklist using the links below. Have your Scout decorate it with a traditional red cross, write their name clearly on it, and securely stick it to the inside of the container lid for rapid reference.
🛒 Step 2: Sourcing Kit Contents
Please review what you already have in your medicine cabinets at home, then consider visiting a larger community pharmacy with a dedicated first aid section to gather any remaining items needed to complete the manifest below.

Scouts are explicitly instructed during section training that **no elements of oral pain relief are ever to be self-administered or given to others without prior authorization and direct verification from a leading adult or parent.**
🪡 Step 3: Practice & Sign-off
Building the kit is only the first phase—knowing how to leverage its contents confidently is what turns a Scout into a capable first aider.
We strongly encourage parents to construct mock training environments at home. Let your child practice cleaning minor scratches, applying antiseptic cream, and cleanly wrapping adhesive plasters on you or their siblings.
- The Scout must take active ownership of keeping their first aid inventory completely replenished.
- Once all structural components are securely sorted and labelled, have your Scout bring the completed kit to the next troop meeting to showcase their layout directly to section leaders for award advancement.
