Venturers offers an exciting environment where senior youth take complete ownership of their journey! Operating as a self-governing Unit, Venturers design and execute their own balanced programmes—spanning everything from high-adventure outdoor expeditions and vocational skill development to leadership training, community service, and team-building initiatives.
⏱️ Age Section: The Venturers programme is tailored for youth in School Years 11 to 13, focusing on independence, personal growth, and preparing young adults for the future.

To help other people,
And to live by the Scout Law.

• For yourself and others
• For the environment
• Be trustworthy and tolerant
• Have integrity
• Accept challenges with courage
• Be a friend to all
Peak Awards & Progression Pathways
Managed transparently via the national Mahi Tahi platform, our progressive award scheme challenges Venturers to broaden their boundaries. By managing substantial initiatives across Participate, Assist, and Lead pathways, Venturers earn their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards.
The pinnacle of a youth member’s journey is the pursuit of prestigious peak achievements: the King’s Scout Award and the internationally recognized Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.
As Sea Scouts, our Unit focuses heavily on advanced Adventure Skills. Venturers push their limits in technical , multi-day blue-water tramping/boating expeditions, whitewater rafting, and swift-water survival activities, working alongside adult leaders as capable, independent mariners and trampers.
⛵ National Schools & Events: Alongside regular Unit nights, Venturers actively take part in major optional weekend events. While localized planning forums or community helper weekends are often free, major milestone events—such as national Venturer schools, regional sailing regattas, and extensive wilderness tramps—operate on an affordable cost-recovery structure to cover specialized safety gear, food, and transport logistics.
