When you join the Scout section, you step into true youth-led adventure! Scouts become key members of a small team called a ‘Patrol’. Led by a Patrol Leader, Scouts work together to explore wild spaces, build deep friendships, experiment with outdoor skills, conquer personal challenges, and experience everything the adventurous Scout life has to offer.
⏱️ Age Section: The Scouts programme is specifically designed for youth in School Years 7 to 10, laying the foundation for independent leadership before they move up to Venturers.
Our Foundations & Values
The Scout Promise
On my honour, I promise to do my best,
To develop my spiritual beliefs,
To contribute to my community, country and world,
To help other people,
And to live by the Scout Law.
The Scout Law
• For yourself and others
• For the environment
• Be trustworthy and tolerant
• Have integrity
• Accept challenges with courage
• Be a friend to all
The Scout Award Scheme
Through the national Mahi Tahi portal, our Scouts take personal ownership of their award journey. Moving beyond simple attendance, they challenge themselves by planning, executing, and reviewing personal projects across Participate, Assist, and Lead streams to earn their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, ultimately aiming for the prestigious Chief Scout’s Award.
As Sea Scouts, our program emphasizes real-world mastery of advanced Adventure Skills. Scouts actively level up their capabilities in Water Skills, Sailing, Camping, and Emergency handling, opening doors to national regattas, jamborees, and multi-day national schools.
⛵ Expeditions & Weekend Camps: Alongside our regular weeknight troop nights, there are excellent optional weekend activities available. Many local skill days are completely free, while major adventures like multi-day troop camps, sailing regattas, and expeditions carry an affordable cost-recovery fee to cover logistics, food, and marine safety resources.
Ready to join the Patrol?
We offer interactive trial sessions so your child can experience a troop night, check out our watercraft, and see how our patrols operate firsthand.
