Become a leader; it’s not as scary as it sounds and it is immensely rewarding. We all support each other as a volunteer team. Here is a brief outline of expectations:
Volunteer Leader Expectations
- ✔️ Lead & Guide: Lead a group of at least 6 children using the Scout Method.
- ✔️ Weekly Commitment: Attend weekly meeting nights (cover can be arranged).
- ✔️ Operations: Assist with setup/pack up, attendance registers, and badge sign-offs.
- ✔️ Planning: Contribute to team planning and lead approximately 1–2 sessions per term.
- ✔️ Communication: Participate actively in the leader team and stay in touch via email/team tools.
- ✔️ Weekend Events: Attend and assist at occasional weekend events each term.
- ✔️ Training & Policy: Complete initial training (Gilwell Woggle) within 18 months and adhere to all Health, Safety, and Youth Protection policies.
- ✔️ Compliance: Successfully pass a new Police Check and reference process for Scouting NZ.
Note: Acceptance to become a leader requires agreement from the section leadership team, the Group Leader, and the committee.
