Auckland Regatta 4-6 April 2014

On the First weekend of April 15 Scouts, 5 Venturers,  4 Leaders and Parents attended the Auckland Regatta held at Shakespear Reserve on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. This year as well we had an additional 5 Land scouts from Mayfield Scouts who joined with us.

This year the group were mainly Junior’s (under 13 and a half). In future years we will be strong across all age groups. We have 6 months to get ready for National Regatta …. get ready

We participated in all the events  from Cutter and Sunburst Sailing , Seasmanship , Ironman , Canoeing , Tug of War , Rowing , Raft Building and The Caterpillar Race.  Multiple teams in most Junior events which is a first for the time I have been involved with Tauhinu.

On Sunday a number of Cubs and Keas came up to check out what happens at Regatta and had a row and helped us win the Caterpillar Race…. Welldone

Notable results

Venturers – 1st in Seamanship, 2nd in Seniors Rowing , 2nd in the Ironman, 3rd in Canoeing.

Scouts- 2nd in Intermediate Seamanship (for those Junior Boys stepping up) 2nd Tied in the Raft Building and Race, 4th in the Junior Rowing Final

Combined – Camp standard  , and 1st in the Caterpillar Race (well done to those Kea’s and Cubs that made that crew up)

A cool weekend had by all thanks to the Leaders Alex, Daniel and Kahu plus the parent Lindsay and Geoff for your sailing help in coaching the boys and the Mums Vicky and Katrina for your immense work keeping everyone trucking along.

Any more photos’ send to me..
