Helping Our Scout Group

⚜️ Driven by Volunteers, Supported by Community

As a non-profit organisation, Tauhinu Sea Scouts relies entirely on the goodwill, energy, and support of our community. We are all volunteers, and none of us are paid for what we do. Backed by a strong, dedicated group committee and parent network, we focus our energy entirely on delivering a safe, adventurous, and progressive programme to our youth members. The time and commitment of our parents and caregivers is absolutely vital to ensuring our group continues to make a positive impact on the youth of Greenhithe and our surrounding neighborhoods.

How You Can Get Involved

There are many ways to support the ship, ranging from casual event assistance to formal leadership tracks. Any help or expertise you can provide is sincerely and deeply appreciated:

👣 1. Become a Leader

Step up and join our uniformed leadership team! It is nowhere near as scary as it sounds, full training framework support is provided, and it is immensely rewarding to guide our youth.

⚓ 2. Group Committee

Prefer to support behind the scenes? Take up an active position on our group committee or fill one of our vital non-committee operational support roles.

⛵ 3. Badge Instruction

Leverage your personal professional skills, maritime hobbies, or outdoor experience to support or instruct specific badge criteria for our youth sections.

🤝 4. Sponsorship & Grants

Use your professional networks or commercial contacts to help secure corporate sponsorship, material supply donations, or community grant funding for the group.

⛺ 5. Camps & Fundraising

Volunteer your time to help pull off a major community fundraising drive, assist with transport logistics, or lend a hand directly at a section camp or overnight sleepover.

💻 6. Active Roster Signups

Keep an eye on the website and parent portal. Jump onto parent rosters and log help for specific events or working bees as they are announced across the year.

🛑 Child Safety Notice: In alignment with SCOUTS New Zealand safe from harm policies, any parent or caregiver volunteering to stay overnight at a camp, water weekend, or sleepover must successfully complete a standard confidential Police Vetting Check prior to the event.
